It started with one rose.

A simple idea: offer someone a rose in exchange for a smile.

What began as a small gesture became a bigger question: how far can one act of kindness travel?

Since then, it's been small and steady: a rose here, a rose there, handed to someone who wasn't expecting one.

The Bigger Vision

What we are building toward

The long-term dream is to create a permanent home for 1Rose4aSmile in Florida, connected to Orchibellas and its floral operation, but designed around human connection. A place where flowers become a way to bring people together.

  • A Place to Belong

    A welcoming space where older adults, including those experiencing loneliness, can spend time around flowers and plants, learn about orchids, plant, participate in workshops, share their knowledge and simply have somewhere meaningful to be.

  • Different Minds. Real Opportunities.

    A supportive environment where people with different abilities or neurodivergent individuals may someday participate as visitors, learners, workshop guests or collaborators, according to what is appropriate for them.

  • Flowers That Travel Further

    1Rose4aSmile should extend beyond Florida. The vision includes supporting children and communities in Colombia through school supplies, educational and recreational spaces, future schools, and opportunities that can connect communities across countries.

None of this exists yet. It's the direction we're working toward.

We're not there yet.

But every rose can move the story forward.

This is only the beginning.
